Kinetic group on Thursday said it would sell about 210,000 bikes and scooters during its fiscal year to September 2007, with new Italian designs to give it a big boost. A major portion of the sales would come from the Italiano series of scooters - whose designs were acquired from Italy's Italjet Moto - that the company would launch over the next few months, an executive said. "We expect exponential growth from this series," Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Managing Director of Kinetic Motor Co Ltd and director of Kinetic Engineering Ltd, told media. Kinetic Engineering makes bikes and mopeds while its sister firm makes scooters. Both companies are expected to turn profitable next year. Pune-based Kinectic Motor on Thursday launched a 165cc Italjet-designed scooter with plans for another two models by December. It hopes to sell 100,000 bikes and scooters by the end of its current fiscal in September and double sales in the next fiscal to 210,000. "About 135,000 of our sales next fiscal will be scooters of which 80,000 should be Italjets," Motwani said adding that exports were targeted at emerging economies like Africa. Kinetic Motor sold an 11 percent stake in January to Taiwanese motorbike maker Sanyang Industry Co.
