06/15/2006 Hindustan Times
Japanese carmaker Nissan is to sign a deal with Russia on Tuesday to build a factory near here, officials said, as US auto giant General Motors prepares to launch construction of its own plant nearby. Nissan had announced in April that it planned to invest $200 million in its first plant in Russia, to produce 50,000 vehicles annually and employ 750 people. It is scheduled to open in 2009. GM was due to break ground at their plant, where initial investment is expected to be $115 million.
